Workshop J: Encouraging the development of problem solving skills in S1 and S2 pupils

Linda Moon & Peter Richmond, Glasgow Academy
An interactive workshop that will demonstrate some activities that may be used in the classroom to encourage the development of problem solving skills and improve number bonds, particularly with S1 and S2 pupils. This session will revisit some ideas that practitioners are likely to have seen before, but will introduce some new activities and a variety of approaches to embed problem solving within the curriculum. Most of the activities could be adapted for both younger and older pupils.

  1. Heaps of resources from a variety of sources (books, internet, free softwares). Hands-on puzzles...very useful session with lots of practical classroom suggestions.
